SAFEGUARDING THE HOLY MASS

Divine Appeal Reflection - 216

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 216: "The Red Lucifer is labouring hard to abolish the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass."

The Adorable Savior, Christ, bestowed His endless love upon mankind and established this sacred sacrifice of Mass. Such gift is truly impartial, serving as an infinite source of grace and blessing in the eternal glory of the crucified and risen Christ. It strengthens and nourishes every faithful soul with grace. Yet, the enemy, known as the "Red Lucifer," rages against it, knowing the Mass is the heart of the Church. His tactics are subtle—sowing doubt in the Real Presence, distracting hearts from devotion, and stirring division within the Body of Christ. Many no longer see the Mass as the living sacrifice of Christ but only as a routine, forgetting it is the mystery of our salvation unfolding before us. But Our Adorable Jesus remains with His Church, assuring us that His sacrifice will never cease. He is present in every tabernacle, on every altar where the Holy Mass is offered, pouring out His grace upon the world. There can be no plan of the enemy to erase this divine reality, for His love is eternal, and His promise is unchangeable (cf. Matthew 28:20). 

According to the Catholic Catechism, the Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life ," for therein is contained Christ Himself-Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity (cf. CCC 1324). Every attack against the Mass is, therefore, an attack against Jesus. The Red Lucifer seeks to strip away the sacred, making hearts indifferent to the miracle happening on the altar. He tempts souls to put worldly concerns above Sunday worship, causing their love for the Eucharist to grow cold. He clouds the truth, leading some to doubt the Mass’s importance or forget that it is a true sacrifice. In a world that ignores the holy, we must stand firm in faith. Through prayer, reverence, and frequent reception of the Eucharist, we push back against the enemy’s schemes and remain united with Our Adorable Jesus (cf. Ephesians 6:11).

The battle against the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is real. Churches grow quieter, faith weakens, and even among those who come, the sense of awe is fading. The devil spreads division within the Church, using conflict to unsettle the faithful. He promotes a life of comfort and ease, making many forget the call to worship and sacrifice. But we must not lose heart—no darkness can overpower the light of Christ. Our Adorable Jesus offers Himself every day on the altar, calling us to join our sufferings with His. Even though the Red Lucifer tries to erase the Mass, he will never win, for Christ has already defeated sin and death (cf. Romans 8:37).

Now is the time to renew our love for the Eucharist and guard it with unshakable faith. Let us not grow lukewarm but treasure the Mass as the greatest gift of our faith. By deepening our reverence, participating fully, and proclaiming the Real Presence of Christ, we stand as defenders of the Mass. Holding fast to Our Adorable Jesus in the Eucharist, we receive the strength to resist anything that tries to weaken its power. The Mass is heaven touching earth—our refuge, our strength, and our victory over darkness (cf. John 6:51).

Our Adorable Jesus, the Red Lucifer is laboring hard to abolish the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Strengthen our faith and set our hearts ablaze with love for Your Real Presence. May we stand firm, guarding this divine gift with unwavering devotion until You come again in glory.
