Divine Appeal Reflection - 188
Today, consider in Divine Appeal 188: "Pray more that souls may be invigorated with the love of My Heart."
Our Adorable Jesus does not merely invite us to pray—He commands us to pray even more. In His boundless love, He desires that prayer be used to sanctify, strengthen, and rejuvenate souls. Through prayer, God's graces enter the world and bring people closer to His gracious embrace. Many people stay weak, exhausted, and cut off from His love when they don't pray. But by intense prayer—whether through sacrificial sacrifices, the Holy Rosary, Eucharistic adoration, or private devotions—Jesus gives those souls who are torn between hopelessness and salvation fresh life. The Bible encourages us to pray constantly because it purifies and strengthens souls to walk in accordance with God's desire (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Our Adorable Jesus ardently desires that every soul encounter the transforming power of His divine love. The love of His Heart is not passive but active, sacrificial, and life-giving. When souls are inflamed with this love, they become like the Apostles after Pentecost—bold, fearless, and consumed with zeal for the salvation of others. Jesus lovingly invites all who are burdened to come to Him, promising that those who take His yoke and learn from Him will find rest for their souls (cf. Matthew 11:28-29). How many souls today are exhausted by spiritual fatigue, ensnared by worldly distractions, and weighed down by sin? Our Adorable Jesus calls us to bring them to Him in prayer so that they may be renewed, healed, and restored in His divine love.
To answer this Divine Appeal, we must embrace the call to deeper intercessory prayer. Knowing that prayer strengthens souls against the attacks of darkness and releases the torrents of His kindness, our Adorable Jesus exhorts us to pray more. We are commanded to pray for the conversion of sinners every day, to adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament, to fervently recite the Holy Rosary, and to give modest but significant sacrifices in solidarity with His Passion for the salvation of souls. A struggling soul can be lifted into the arms of divine grace by any act of prayer, no matter how small. As Scripture states, the earnest prayer of the righteous is powerful before God (cf. James 5:16).
The world today stands in dire need of souls who will persevere in prayer. Our Adorable Jesus thirsts for hearts that will intercede for others, that His love may penetrate even the most hardened hearts. By answering His call to prayer, we become co-workers in His saving mission, shining His light into the darkness that engulfs so many souls. We should never stop praying and making sacrifices because we know that our Adorable Jesus will use them to ignite the fire of His love in people's hearts. He promises to fulfill our requests in His name for the glory of the Father if we pray consistently (cf. John 14:13).
Prayer
Oh our Adorable Jesus, strengthen weary souls with the fire of Your love. Pour out Your mercy upon those lost in darkness. May our prayers bring light, healing, and conversion. Enkindle in us a deep zeal for holiness. Teach us to pray unceasingly, trusting in Your infinite goodness.
Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
