THE DIVINE CONSTANT PRESENCE OF JESUS

Divine Appeal Reflection - 205

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 205: "Behold I am everywhere with you in so much as I am in My Divine Person."

Our Adorable Jesus has given a most profound truth regarding His unending companionship. This truth seizes us by the collar and shakes us vigorously, reminding us that even though Jesus has bequeathed heaven to His human family, He is never distanced from any individual soul; rather, He embraces us with His divine presence at every instant of our lives. His divinity knows no spatial limits, and His love transcends all constraints of time and space (cf. CCC 1373).

Jesus' promise to be with us is an invitation to live a life of greater trust and faith. Just as He walked with His disciples on the road to Emmaus, when they did not recognize Him, He walks with us in our everyday trials, hidden but ever so close (cf. Luke 24:15-16). Many souls, however, suffer deep loneliness, as if Jesus is far. St. Teresa of Calcutta, who experienced years of spiritual dryness, tells us that Jesus is present even in silence. In these circumstances, we must trust, because His nearness is based on His unfailing promise, not on our feelings (cf. Matthew 28:20).

We are reminded that He is actively seeking to draw us closer to Himself. It is not by sheer necessity but by an act of love and trust that He desires our response. While keeping watch over us, His Divine Person tenderly leads our hearts and thoughts to virtue. The saints, offer profound insights into the transformative yet hidden presence of God within the soul. In The Interior Castle, St. Teresa encourages us to discover Christ's personal presence within ourselves, and to seek and nourish this heavenly presence. In The Living Flame of Love, St. John teaches that the soul's journey through spiritual darkness and loneliness is not a sign of abandonment, but rather a necessary purification in which we are stripped of ourselves and drawn closer to God. He tells us that these moments of desolation are the perfect preparation for the overpowering light of divine union, in which the soul, cleaned and polished, will experience the fullness of God's love inside.

Our Adorable Jesus often goes unnoticed, but He consistently journeys with us through both achievements and setbacks. We should make a heartfelt commitment to Him, enabling His grace to shape and change us into a more intimate connection with His unfailing love (cf. Romans 8:38-39). We can learn to view our times of solitude as chances for deeper love and faith rather than as burdens by studying the lives of the saints. Because even in stillness, His divine presence remains, ever near, ever guiding us into the depths of His unbreakable oneness with us.

Prayer:

Our Adorable Jesus, You who are everywhere with us in Your Divine Person, open our hearts to recognize Your hidden presence. We offer You our thoughts, words, and actions this day and always for the conversion of souls and reparation for sins committed against Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Stay with us, Lord, and guide us.

Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
