Divine Appeal Reflection - 199
Today, consider in Divine Appeal 199: "Many convents and cloistered convents are no longer My prayer home but the grazing ground of ASMOSDEUS."
Our Adorable Jesus sorrowfully reveals the painful truth that many religious houses, once vibrant with prayer and holiness, have fallen into spiritual desolation. What was meant to be a dwelling for divine intimacy has become a place where the evil spirit of impurity, symbolized by Asmodeus, roams freely. The lives of consecrated souls are meant to bear witness to the supreme value of seeking God's Kingdom above all, yet when this commitment weakens, their homes lose their sacred character. The Church teaches that those who embrace the evangelical counsels are called to mirror the purity and love of Christ, but when this is neglected, their vocation becomes vulnerable to spiritual corruption (cf. CCC 925-926).
This tragic condition is a sign of the greater battle raging against purity and fidelity in the Church and the world. The powers of darkness continually seek to destroy souls, especially those set apart for God’s service. Our Adorable Jesus mourns the consecrated souls whose hearts once burned with divine love but are now cold and distracted, entrapped by selfish desires and worldly comforts. The Scriptures remind us that human struggles often conceal deeper spiritual conflicts involving unseen evil forces that strive to lead souls away from God (cf. Eph 6:12). When prayer is abandoned and vigilance fades, these sacred places become spiritually exposed, giving the enemy room to sow disorder and vice.
The path to restoration lies in a renewed commitment to prayer, self-denial, and adoration of our Adorable Jesus, particularly in the Eucharist. The Church teaches that prayer is the lifeline that sustains the relationship between God and His children, and consecrated souls must reclaim this as their highest duty (cf. CCC 2565). Where there is sincere adoration and reparation, the enemy’s influence is driven out, and the presence of our Adorable Jesus once more reigns in peace. Those who have consecrated their lives to Him are called to strive daily for purity of heart, for their vocation demands a continual turning away from sin and a constant seeking of divine grace.
The faithful are also invited to share in this mission by offering prayers and sacrifices for the renewal of religious life. Our Adorable Jesus desires that convents be restored as beacons of holiness, from which graces flow upon the Church and the world. The prayers and sacrifices of consecrated souls are treasures that sustain the Church’s spiritual life, and when they are faithful, the whole Body of Christ is strengthened (cf. CCC 2687). May we implore our Blessed Mother to guard all consecrated souls, that their homes may once again shine as true sanctuaries of our Adorable Jesus.
Prayer
O our Adorable Jesus, with hearts bowed before Your Eucharistic Presence, we implore You—purify every convent and cloistered home defiled by sin. Rekindle the flame of love in consecrated souls. Wrap them in the tender embrace of Your Mother, that their lives may radiate the beauty of holiness. Amen.
Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
