THE MERCIFUL WARNING

Divine Appeal Reflection - 160

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 160:  "Make My merciful warning known to all and tell them I need them to be saved from their sins which lead to perdition.”

The merciful warning of our Adorable Jesus is rich in the deepest expressions of His infinite love and tender concern for souls. This call to salvation emphasizes its universal nature and the need for cooperation with divine grace. The Catechism reminds us that salvation, though bound to the sacrament of Baptism, is ultimately an act of God's boundless mercy (cf. CCC 1257). Our Adorable Jesus, in His plea, emphasizes that salvation demands a deliberate rejection of sin and a heartfelt return to Him. His words in the Gospel further clarify this, as He urges all to repent and trust in the Good News (cf. Mk 1:15). It is a clear reminder that we are invited to actively participate in the grace that He generously provides.

Through this appeal, our Adorable Jesus implores us to recognize the gravity of sin and the profound need for His saving grace, which alone can restore what has been lost. The consequences of sin reveal the urgency of heeding our Lord’s merciful warning. Sin is not merely a breach of law; it severs the bond of love with God, especially in cases of mortal sin, which can lead to eternal separation from Him. Scripture vividly illustrates this truth, declaring that the wages of sin is death, while the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus (cf. Rom 6:23).

In His benevolent warning, our Adorable Jesus invites humility and trust in showing a response to it. It is also an invitation to repentance and to come seeking forgiveness through the sacrament of Reconciliation to experience His renewing power through His mercy. This divine appeal is a gift and a shining beacon of hope in a world darkened by sin, calling every soul away from destruction and toward the salvation which He desires for all souls. Let us open our hearts to this plea and share it with many, so that many may be drawn into the redeeming love of our Lord.

Prayer

Oh our Adorable Jesus, full of mercy and love, we humbly ask You to guide us away from sin and into the light of Your grace. Strengthen our hearts to heed Your merciful warnings, embrace repentance, and live faithfully in Your truth. Save us, Lord, and bring us to eternal life.

Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
