Divine Appeal Reflection - 183
Today, consider in Divine Appeal 183: "I want the world to know that My Heart is overflowing with Mercy. I rest in nothingness... My Love is greater than their sins. I long for their response to My Love. I want My salvation to prevail in the souls of mankind."
Our Adorable Jesus assures us that His love is greater than our sins. This truth is at the very heart of the Gospel, for while humanity was still steeped in sin, Christ died for us as the ultimate proof of divine love (cf. Romans 5:8). Unlike human love, which often depends on merit, Jesus’ love is freely given, seeking not the worthy but the lost and broken. He does not wait for us to attain perfection before embracing us; rather, He longs to heal and restore us in our weakness. His mercy is a never-ending wellspring that is always prepared to purify and reclaim penitent souls.
Yet, despite such boundless mercy, many in the world reject the love of our Adorable Jesus. Sin, pride, and self-reliance blind countless souls, leading them to believe they are beyond redemption. Some despair, thinking their sins are too great to be forgiven, while others grow indifferent, failing to recognize the gravity of sin. But Jesus’ call remains urgent: Return to Me! Do not harden your hearts, for My mercy is infinite! He desires not the death of the sinner but that all should turn back and live (cf. Ezekiel 33:11). His love is greater than every fault, and no soul is too lost to be reclaimed by His mercy.
The longing of our Adorable Jesus for our love is deeply expressed in His plea: “I long for their response to My Love.” This is not the voice of a distant judge but of a Redeemer who thirsts for souls. The same Jesus who, from the Cross, cried out in thirst (cf. John 19:28), still thirsts today—not for water, but for our trust, our love, and our return to Him. He desires that His salvation prevail in all souls, not through force but through the free and loving response of hearts turned toward Him. To respond to His love is to surrender to Him in trust, to confess our sins with humility, and to seek Him in the sacraments and works of mercy.
In light of this Divine Appeal, we are not only called to trust in the mercy of our Adorable Jesus but also to make it known. As devout Catholics, it is our duty to be conduits of His kindness, drawing people to Him through evangelization, sacrifice, and prayer. The world needs to know that Jesus is merciful, that He desires everyone to be saved (cf. 1 Timothy 2:4), and that no one who seeks Him will be turned away. By accepting our nothingness and allowing Him to fill us with His love, let us fully surrender to His kindness. As we grow closer to Jesus' compassionate heart, may His true presence in the Blessed Sacrament be our strength and refuge.
Prayer
Oh our Adorable Jesus, Grant that we may never doubt Your mercy, but rather, with childlike trust, surrender ourselves completely to You. May Your salvation triumph in all souls, and may we be instruments of Your mercy to those most in need.
Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
