Divine Appeal Reflection - 164
Today, consider in Divine Appeal 164: "My great love for mankind keeps Me a prisoner in the tabernacles waiting and thirsting for all sinners. I offer them sufficient grace for their conversion. My grace extends itself to all the miseries of any kind that it finds through this earth. However terrible it is, direct or indirect, I turn it into salvation. Here I show My marvellous inventions."
In His infinite mercy, our Adorable Jesus offers every soul the grace necessary for conversion, no matter how far they have strayed. One saint compares Jesus’ love for sinners to the tender persistence of a mother searching for her lost child (cf. Confessions, St. Augustine, Bk 8). Scripture affirms this boundless mercy, teaching that "where sin increased, grace abounded all the more" (cf. Rom 5:20). Another saint beautifully reflects that God’s mercy knows no limits, always prepared to heal and restore even the most wounded and contrite hearts (cf. Summa Theologiae, St. Thomas Aquinas, III, q. 46, a. 3). All He asks is that we respond with humility and trust, opening ourselves to His transformative love.
No soul is beyond the reach of the mercy of our Adorable Jesus. One saint wrote that even if their conscience carried the weight of every possible crime, they would still trust in God’s arms of mercy (cf. Story of a Soul, St. Therese of Lisieux). Jesus reminds us of his eagerness to forgive, inviting the weary and burdened to rest in Him (cf. Mt 11:28). Another saint, St. Catherine of Siena, compared his grace to a river of living water that brings hope and light to the spirit (cf. The Dialogue). Every moment becomes an opportunity for reconciliation and a deeper union with the divine will.
Our Adorable Jesus reveals His "marvellous inventions" in transforming misery into salvation. As a doctor of the Church teaches, God permits evils only to draw forth a greater good (cf. Ascent of Mount Carmel, St. John of the Cross). Trials, failures, and even the consequences of sin can become instruments of redemption when entrusted to Him. Another saint reflected that God brings good out of evil rather than prevent evil altogether, to show His greater glory (cf. Enchiridion, St. Augustine, Ch. 27). Through His providence, our greatest miseries become opportunities for grace and growth in holiness, revealing the wisdom of His divine plan.
This Divine Appeal urges us never to despair, no matter the weight of our burdens or the depth of our failures. A saintly reflection assures us that our confidence in God’s mercy should grow in proportion to our misery (cf. Treatise on the Love of God, St. Francis de Sales, Bk 2, Ch. 8). Our Adorable Jesus invites us to entrust every trial to Him, trusting that He will transform them into pathways of salvation. By responding with faith and trust, we become living testimonies of His infinite love. Let us surrender all to Him, knowing that His grace is sufficient to turn our miseries into paths of redemption and joy.
Prayer
Oh our Adorable Jesus, prisoner of love in the tabernacle, we adore You and entrust all souls to Your infinite mercy. Transform our miseries into salvation by the power of Your grace. Draw sinners to Your Sacred Heart, and let Your light shine in every darkness. Jesus, we trust in You.
Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
