RECOGNISING THE TIMES AND CONSOLING JESUS

Divine Appeal Reflection - 173

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 173: "We are in times of violence. Great offences will befall... I am sad and My heart is pierced by very painful swords."

The phrase “We are in times of violence” is a prophetic call from our Adorable Jesus to recognize the perilous state of the world. This violence is not restricted to physical wars, but also to the spiritual realm, where hatred, division, and moral corruption reign. As St. Paul warns, the final days will be treacherous, with people loving themselves, boasting, being ungrateful, and lacking sincere love. The growing rejection of the sanctity of life, family unity, and the dignity of each soul reflects our current perdition lifestyle. These offenses deeply wound the heart of our Adorable Jesus, who desires only to bring humanity into the embrace of His divine love.

The piercing of Jesus’ heart by "very painful swords" recalls the prophecy of Simeon, who foretold that Mary’s soul would be pierced by a sword (cf. Luke 2:35). This imagery reflects the suffering of our Lord caused by the sins and ingratitude of humanity. Our Adorable Jesus suffers not only from the grave sins of the world but also from the coldness and indifference of His own people—priests, consecrated souls, and the faithful who fail to respond to His grace. These offenses are like swords that wound the heart of Jesus, who continually offers His love and mercy to all, longing to heal and save souls.

In response to these painful times, our Adorable Jesus calls us to console His heart through acts of reparation, prayer, and conversion. Each act of love offered in Eucharistic Adoration, each true confession, and every effort to live a holiness-filled life contributes to the healing of His heart's wounds. He invites us to be peacemakers in a violent society, expressing His love in our homes, communities, and daily interactions. By rejecting sin and striving for virtue, we not only console our Lord but also serve as channels of His grace to a world in urgent need of His light.

In these challenging times, the call to recognize the depth of the offenses against our Adorable Jesus is urgent. He is not distant but is intimately present, mourning the sins of humanity and offering His heart as a refuge. Let us heed His call to reparation and prayer, standing as witnesses to His love and mercy. By turning to Him with sincere hearts and dedicating ourselves to acts of love and faith, we can bring consolation to His pierced heart and restore hope to the world.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, our Adorable Jesus, with sorrow for the sins of the world, grant us the grace to console Your pierced heart through acts of love, prayer, and reparation. May we reject sin, live in holiness, and bring Your light to a wounded world.

Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
