Divine Appeal Reflection - 141
Today, consider in Divine Appeal 141: "My saving power must be extended over the entire universe. In Me there is the throne of mercy and the most wretched are the best welcomed."
Jesus uses His Sacred Heart's limitless compassion to determine deservingness rather than human standards. His mercy, which offers forgiveness together with the hope of restoration and renewal, is particularly appealing to those who are remorseful and spiritually broken. He demonstrates to us that no soul is outside the bounds of His divine love and that He takes great pleasure in reuniting the lost.
While Jesus tenderly welcomes sinners, He calls them to transformation through humility, repentance, and the renewing power of grace. Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, known for her profound trust in God’s mercy, beautifully expresses this reality: “Even if I had on my conscience all the sins that can be committed, I would still go, my heart broken with sorrow, to throw myself into the arms of my Savior.” Like the Prodigal Son, we are invited to return to the Father with contrite hearts, confident in His unconditional love and eager to be renewed. In His mercy, Jesus does not simply restore; He elevates the repentant soul, drawing them into the fullness of divine joy and intimacy with Him.
As faithful children of the Church, we are called to embody Christ’s boundless mercy in our daily lives. Our Adorable Jesus invites us to look beyond sin and brokenness, extending the same compassion and forgiveness that He so generously offers to us. By imitating His divine example, we become channels of His healing love, bringing grace and restoration to those in need. We must become instruments of His love, extending the same mercy we have received. By walking with the wounded and the marginalized, we imitate the Good Shepherd’s mission of bringing light to the darkest corners of the world. Let us trust in the infinite mercy of our Adorable Jesus and, in turn, become channels of that mercy for others, leading all souls into His loving embrace.
Prayer
Our Adorable Jesus, You who seek the lost and welcome the broken, pour Your infinite mercy upon the most wretched souls. Heal their hearts, restore their dignity, and lead them into the light of Your love. Teach us to imitate Your compassion and to trust in Your saving power.
Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
