GLORIFYING OUR MISERY IN CHRIST

Divine Appeal Reflection - 135

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 135: "In the Sacrament of My Love I collect miseries and make glorious things out of them."

Misery, in the spiritual sense, is a reflection of human frailty, sin, suffering, and the burdens we carry in this fallen world. Life's trials often burden us with feelings of failure, unworthiness, and alienation from God. These experiences of brokenness are inherent to our fallen nature, and at times, they weigh heavily upon us, leaving us feeling isolated and burdened, hindering our ability to faithfully live out our Christian vocation.

However, Our Adorable Jesus calls us to bring these miseries to Him rather than hide them. He does not reject our weaknesses or demand perfection before we come to Him. Instead, He desires us to approach Him with humility and openness, trusting in His grace. In the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, Christ lovingly receives our brokenness and initiates the divine work of transforming it into glory. He takes our struggles and miseries and transforms them into vessels of His redeeming love, using them as instruments for our sanctification.

Through the Eucharist, Christ, Our Adorable Jesus, collects our miseries with the same love and compassion with which He embraced the Cross. Every trial and sorrow we endure is absorbed by His infinite love, and He transforms them into something glorious. No suffering is wasted when it is united with His redemptive power. By offering our weaknesses and suffering in union with Him, we allow Christ to turn them into moments of grace, transforming weakness into strength, brokenness into wholeness, and suffering into redemption.

This glorification of misery begins now, not just in the afterlife. Through His Eucharistic presence, Christ gradually transforms and infuses our lives with His grace, turning our miseries into pathways of holiness. Divine Appeal 135 invites us to trust completely in Christ’s transforming power. We are called to approach the Eucharist with confidence, knowing that every time we receive Communion, Our Adorable Jesus heals, transforms, and glorifies us. Our offering of misery, given with trust and humility, becomes a sacred exchange, drawing us closer to the perfection He desires for us in this life and the next.

Let us, therefore, not be discouraged by our miseries but offer them to Jesus in the Eucharist, knowing that in His hands, they become pathways to eternal glory.

Prayer

Dear Lord, Our Adorable Jesus, in the Sacrament of Your Love, we bring our weaknesses and miseries before You. Transform them by Your grace, turning our trials into glory. Help us trust in Your mercy and glorify Your name through our struggles. In Your Eucharistic presence, heal and sanctify us.

Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
