THE PAIN OF REJECTED LOVE

Divine Appeal Reflection  - 129

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 129:  "I need the desire to repair. What a pain! I am forced to walk through the streets with tears in My eyes!"

When we picture our Adorable Jesus with tears in His eyes, we are reminded of the tender compassion He holds for each of us. His tears reveal that our Savior is deeply engaged in the lives of His people, never distant or unaffected by the world’s brokenness. Just as He wept over Jerusalem (cf. Luke 19:41), mourning its refusal to accept His peace, so too does He weep over humanity’s present state of sin, confusion, and indifference. His tears are an expression of His Sacred Heart, which beats with infinite love for every soul, yet is so often met with coldness, rejection, and apathy.

The pain of Jesus’ rejected love is profound. Our Adorable Jesus continually offers Himself to us, especially in the Eucharist, yet many fail to respond to this immense gift. His tears reflect the agony of a wounded Heart—a Heart longing to be known and loved, but instead often treated with irreverence or indifference. This sorrow is made even greater by the fact that the spirit of holiness and the fear of God have eroded away in so many souls. The reverence once held for the sacred is lost, and the gravity of sin is often downplayed in a world that disregards God’s love.

Jesus' pain reaches its peak in witnessing how evil has captured souls, even among priests and consecrated souls. Those who are meant to lead, guide, and model holiness have themselves fallen prey to sin and moral compromise. This betrayal deeply wounds His Heart, as His closest companions turn away, intensifying His sorrow. In response, our Adorable Jesus sheds His tears as a direct plea for reparation—a call for all of us to return to holiness and console His wounded Heart through prayer, faithfulness, and a renewed spirit of reverence and love.

May our Adorable Jesus find in us souls willing to console His wounded Heart. His tears are a direct plea for reparation, calling each of us to return to holiness, to rekindle the spirit of reverence, and to offer our prayers and sacrifices for the salvation of souls. In this way, we can wipe away His tears and respond to His sorrow with faithfulness and love. May we comfort His Sacred Heart and aid in restoring a spirit of holiness and fear of God to the world through our actions of homage and reparation.

Prayer

O Adorable Jesus, sorrowful for the wounds inflicted by our sins and the sins of the world, grant us the grace to console You through our love, reparation, and faithfulness. May our hearts burn with a renewed spirit of holiness and fervor for You.

Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist, intercede for us.
