SOOTHING JESUS' ANGUISHED HEART

Divine Appeal Reflection  - 84

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 84: "Sooth My anguished heart. I beg for prayers. Many believe in Me but few believe in My Love. I address My appeal to all souls. I want to reign over them."

This appeal stirs up significant devotion to prayer in our journey with Our Adorable Jesus, demonstrating the pinnacle of our relationship with Christ. Among other prayers, we join our hearts with Him by reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Rosary, the Way of the Cross, the Liturgy of the Hours, contemplative prayer, and attending Holy Mass. Through these practices, we find consolation in Jesus' heart, unite with His suffering, and strengthen our bond with Him. Besides acknowledging His sacrifices, accepting His love also means living a life that reflects authenticity, kindness, and tolerance every single day. In our acts of mercy, compassion, favor, and selflessness, we portray the Father’s love, drawing people further to the life-giving light and the great grace. At the heart of Jesus' greatness lies our submission to His dominion, which entails humility, faithfulness, and the constant handing over of our will to His divine plan. This submission is manifested in practices like surrendering to Divine providence, discernment of spirits, and obedience to the teachings of the Church. It encompasses the deepest interior conversion where Christ is our core, guiding all our thoughts, words, and deeds.

Furthermore, we acknowledge the needs of His agony, implying acts of atonement and reparation, recognizing the reality of sin and its effect on our relationships between God and neighbor. Likewise, it involves acts of penitence, abstinence, mortification, and seeking reconciliation in the Sacrament of Confession. Through our participation in atonement, we join with Christ in accomplishing His salvific power and giving comfort to His sorrowful heart. Moreover, through the sacramental life of the Church, mainly Eucharist and Reconciliation, our belief continually strengthens through the spiritual food: the body and blood of Christ. Additionally, sins are forgiven in Reconciliation, giving us peace of mind and cleansing our souls. Not only frequent participation in the sacraments, but also a healthy devotion to sacramentals like holy water, making the sign of the cross, and blessings make our spiritual life stronger and bring us into closer union with Christ.

Jesus' Divine Appeal expresses the breadth of His unwavering love for all mankind and, especially, His desire to get to know each person on a personal level. It is the road to discipleship, which aims to bring people closer to Christ and establish His earthly kingdom of justice, peace, and love. As a motivation, the life of Sister Anna Ali showcases a great response to Jesus' call, her steadfast faithfulness, and selfless service stand as the light and inspiration to everyone who desires to follow Christ faithfully. May we, like Sister Anna Ali, be obedient disciples of Christ, joyfully and lovingly dedicating ourselves in His service, knowing that in doing so we are nearing the gentle and meek heart of our Savior.
