EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Divine Appeal Reflection -77

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 77: "As I am exposed, I will pour My infinite mercy into human souls."  Liturgically, exposition of Our Eucharistic Lord is when the consecrated host is displayed in a monstrance, a sacred vessel adorned to contain and display the Holy Eucharist for public adoration. Knowing the Eucharistic exposition schedule in one's parish is important for Christians to take advantage of the spiritual graces that come from holy hours spent in adoration. Eucharistic exposition can vary from one parish to another. In some parishes, perpetual adoration chapels are available for adoration twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and the Blessed Sacrament is continually exposed. In other parishes, Eucharistic exposition is scheduled during the week, especially on Thursdays, during feast days, and other liturgical days or seasons. At this scheduled time, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for a certain time, enabling souls to gather for communal adoration and prayer in the presence of the Eucharist.

In this world of noise, distractions, and busyness, Eucharistic adoration provides a sanctuary of silence and a quiet place where the presence of Our Adorable Jesus transforms us. This is essentially a sacred place where hearts are laid bare before Jesus, and burdens are lifted thanks to His infinite goodness. Pope Benedict XVI, in his elegant articulation of Eucharistic adoration, said, "In adoration, we enter the radiation of the truth, which is not merely an idea but a person." Adoration unites the faithful not just with Christ but also with one another, creating a link of love and solidarity within the Body of Christ. Renowned mystic and Doctor of the Church St. Teresa of Ávila once stated, "When you look at the Crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then. When you look at the Sacred Host, you understand how much Jesus loves you now."

In order to reap full graces of this spiritual encounter with Jesus, it is necessary for souls to devote at least one holy hour each week or at least one night vigil each month for spending time with Our Adorable Jesus. This commitment allows souls to spend sacred time in their lives encountering Jesus in the Eucharist, basking in His heavenly presence, and receiving His infinite mercy and grace. Sister Anna Ali’s commitment to devote many hours each day, including the daily night vigils, is an inspiring example for all souls. Her dedication reflects her deep understanding of the need to exercise God’s mercy through intimate communion with Christ in the Eucharist.
