EMBRACING MERCY OVER REVENGE

Divine Appeal Reflection - 72

Today, consider in Divine Appeal 72 :"With many sins, revenge cries out on My Eternal Father’s behalf." In an evil and suffering-filled world, Jesus extends a fundamental invitation to choose mercy over revenge. The manifestation of the Father's mercy lies at the core of Jesus' message. God's response to all of our transgressions is love and forgiveness rather than revenge. This Divine Appeal invites us to end the cycle of violence and hatred, aligning with the popular idea of seeking revenge. Being faithful to the Divine Appeal of Jesus involves also a profound transformation of our soul – on the one hand, it means that we should be able to forgive those who wronged us, and leave the feelings of hatred and revenge behind. Motivated by Christ's example of making peace with the Father by the sacrifice of His life, we must resolve to promoting healing and reconciliation in our interpersonal relationships and communities at large.

We humbly and prayerfully ask God for His grace to answer His call with courage and love, to be instruments of His grace in a world that longs for salvation. May Sr. Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist intercede for us so that we may always strive to embody the virtues of love and forgiveness in our lives. May her example encourage us to extend kindness instead of revenge, leading to the healing and reconciliation of our interpersonal and communal ties. Through her prayers, may we draw closer to the heart of Christ, who calls us to be instruments of His peace in a world yearning for redemption.
