Jesus' Eternal Compassion
Today, consider in Divine Appeal 70: "I want to save mankind. I grieve to see many souls approaching damnation." Jesus' love is not merely a sentiment or feeling that comes and goes; it is a divine affection that transcends time and space. Through His willingness to take on human form, endure suffering, and ultimately offer Himself on the cross, Christ demonstrated His boundless love with the aim of reuniting mankind with God and overcoming sin and death. This endless and ultimate love forms the central part of Jesus' mission and serves as the guiding light for mankind's hope. Jesus states, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:10). The main message of Jesus is that humanity must be freed from the slavery of sin and death. He does not want souls to go to hell but would rather see them saved. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reveals and emphasizes this fact, stating that "The Word became flesh to make us 'partakers of the divine nature' (CCC 460)." Through His birth, death, and resurrection, Christ makes it possible for those who follow Him to share in eternal life by accepting our participation in His divine nature. As Pope Francis says to all of us, "We are supposed to be not ourselves but an extension of Christ's Sacred Heart that can bring compassion and be a part of His mission to reconcile." Therefore, let us listen to Jesus and strive to be His ambassadors of love and mercy to the restless and hurting. Let us also be an echo of His message through our words and deeds, serving as instruments of hope and healing in a world that can only be changed by His mercy.
